Ngati Hawe was reborn on Sunday 21st December 2003 when at the inaugural meeting of the new Runanga o Ngati Ruanui it was decided to purchase from the Crown the Ararata school and thereby allowing the planning to commence for a new site for all Ngati Hawe. We must recognise and support Eddie Ngeru who along with support from Raniera Wereta and Pat Wipani the proposal was put the Runanga who then made the decision to purchase the old school. For those who don't know this school was attended by many of the old people including Pat Wipani and it is of course very much in the centre of the Ngati Hawe Rohe.
Some of the photos shown here were recently taken from Ararata showing the birth of a new day as seen from that location. Over the next few months plans and proposals will be put forward and actioned upon. All relevant information will be published on this site in the future.
